Turn your RMD into a Gift of Hope and save on your taxes
If you are age 701⁄2 or older, you can make a meaningful gift to St. Vincent New Beginnings
directly from your IRA. This simple strategy—called a Qualified Charitable Distribution
(QCD)—can satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) while reducing your taxable income.
How it works:
- Ask your IRA administrator to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly to St. Vincent
New Beginnings. - The amount you transfer counts toward your RMD for the year.
- Because the gift goes directly to the charity, it is excluded from your taxable income.
- You can donate up to the annual IRS limit (currently $108,000 per individual in 2025).
Benefits for you:
- Reduce your taxable income and possibly lower Medicare premiums.
- Fulfill your Required Minimum Distribution without increasing your tax bill.
- Support life-changing programs that help men rebuild their lives after incarceration.
Example:
Jane is 74 and must take a $20,000 RMD this year. She instructs her IRA custodian to send
$20,000 directly to St. Vincent New Beginnings. That $20,000 counts toward her RMD and is
not included in her taxable income—saving her taxes while helping others rebuild their lives.
