Position Overview

The Transitional Housing Monitor at SVNB plays a vital role in supporting individuals returning to the community after incarceration. This position ensures the safety, stability, and support of residents as they transition toward independent living, focusing on rehabilitation, resource connection, and personal development.

Reports to: SVNB Director

Classification: In-person, Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities available. 

Hours:         

Positions will be scheduled on a full time or part time basis to cover second and third shifts during the week and all shifts on the weekends.

FLSA: Non-exempt $18 hr.

Key Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Summary: Transitional housing monitors are responsible to provide oversight of the transitional house and assist with resident interaction. Monitors are responsible for maintaining the environment for the health and safety of the residents.

  • Resident Support: Provide day-to-day guidance, encouragement, and assistance to residents, fostering a supportive environment that promotes personal growth and positive decision-making. Record attendance for residents and monitor resident movement.
  • Case Plan Review: Review and assure residents are aware of care plan appointments and obligations for the day (e.g., work schedules, housekeeping assignments).
  • Conflict Resolution: Effectively monitor interactions between residents and others. Address interpersonal issues among residents swiftly and professionally.
  • Safety and Compliance: Monitor facility security, enforce program rules and expectations, conduct scheduled room checks, and report safety concerns to the Director.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate documentation of resident interactions, incidents, progress notes, and service referrals in accordance with SVNB policy and confidentiality standards.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to emergencies, provide immediate support, and coordinate with external agencies when necessary.
  • Assist community members who are bringing donations, meeting with and mentoring the residents living in the house. Log all donations as received.
  • Welcome residents’ guests, record attendance and review rules.
  • Monitor supply inventory for the house and the office.
  • Provide information to Director after each shift regarding any need for supplies, incident reports, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals reentering from incarceration reentering with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service.
  • Be culturally sensitive to diverse populations.
  • Display a high level of follow through with assigned tasks.
  • Reliable and on time for all assigned shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with social services, transitional housing and/or emergency shelter programs.
  • Previous experience working with individuals coming out of incarceration.

Position Requirements:

  • Successful completion of SVNB transitional housing orientation and all required training.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screening.

Physical Demands: 

While performing the job, this position typically spends time sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing stairs, carrying (20lbs), lifting (20lbs), operating a computer keyboard, and making and receiving telephone calls, text messages and email messages.
